Try not to be the last person to help
A young woman was driving on the road. The snow was sitting on the side of the road and it was cold. Suddenly, the car’s tire went flat and the woman was forced to get out of the car to ask for help from other drivers. It had been about 45 minutes that she had been standing in that freezing cold.
The woman was standing by the side of the road waiting for help.
Cars were passing by one after the other, as if with that light cream coat she was not visible at all in the snow.
She looked at her car, which was covered in snow.
She wrapped her scarf tighter around her face and pulled her woolen hat down over her ears.
Finally, an old car stopped by the side of the road and a young man got out of it.
The woman was a little scared but composed herself. The young man came forward and greeted her and asked her what the problem was.
The woman explained that her car had a flat tire and that no one had come to her aid.
The young man asked her not to stay in that biting cold any longer and to stay in the car while he changed the tire.
She was really grateful to God that he had sent the young man to help her.
She was sitting in the car when the young man knocked on the window and signaled that the tire was fixed.
The woman took out some money, several times the price of a tire change at the shop, and got out of the car and after thanking him, offered him the money.
The young man politely declined the money and said that he had only done this for the sake of God and told her:
In return, try not to be the last person to help.
They said goodbye and the woman, who was very hungry, headed for the first restaurant.
She had chosen a meal from the restaurant menu when a young woman who was in her last months of pregnancy came towards her in a waitress’s uniform and kindly asked her what she would like.
The woman ordered an $80 meal and after finishing it, gave the young woman a $100 bill.
The young woman went to return the remaining $20.
But when she came back, there was no sign of the woman. Instead, she saw a note on a paper napkin on the table.
The young woman took the note.
The note said that the $20 plus $400 had been left under the paper napkin for her so that she would not have any trouble with her delivery.
The note was for the woman and at the end it said: Try not to be the last person to help.
When the young woman’s husband returned home that night, he was very sad and said that he was worried about the hospital money because it was close to delivery time and they had no money in the bank.
The young woman told him the story of that day: about the woman in the light cream coat who had left her enough money and showed him the letter.
A tear rolled down the young man’s eye and he told his wife that he had helped that woman on the road that morning for the sake of God…
